RESPIRATORY VIRAL INFECTION IN NEONATES CLINICALLY DIAGNOSED AS BACTERIAL SEPSIS

چکیده
Respiratory viral infections in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) can cause significant morbidity and mortality. Testing for pathogens is not routinely done many NICUs. Their clinical presentations are unpredictable on infant sepsis evaluation, bacterial cultures frequently sterile. The study aimed to estimate the prevalence of respiratory among neonates clinically diagnosed with using multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Lumbar Puncture in Neonates with Sepsis
Introduction: Infections are one of the main causes of death during childhood. Epidemiologic studies in Iran showed that the incidence of neonatal sepsis was 1.8% in 1995. Moreover, the incidence of neonatal meningitis is 0.2 to 0.4 in per 1,000 live births. The aim of this study was to determine the necessity of lumbar puncture (LP) in early neonatal sepsis. Nosocomial viral infections have not been well studied. In this context, the aim of this work is to review epidemiological and therapeutic data published on the main viral agents that can produce nosocomial respiratory infection. The study thus aims to expand knowledge of behaviour of these agents in nosocomial infections and provide information to improve the implementation of preventive measu...
متن کاملPrediction of Sepsis Due to Acinetobacter Infection in Neonates Admitted to NICU
Background and Aim: Sepsis is the most important disease in the first 28 days of life and one of the main causes of infant mortality in the intensive care unit. Its definitive diagnosis is possible by performing blood culture. Neonatal sepsis can be a clinical sign of nosocomial infections that are often resistant to antibiotics. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to create and evaluate a...
